We are not actively seeking employees at this time, but we will be hiring another lead teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. If this is something that interests you, please look at the description below.
Responsibilities and expectations of the job:
Develop and implement nature-based programming and teach general education subjects to a mixed-age classroom of either early or upper elementary students.
Collaborate closely with other school staff to develop school vision and projected learning outcomes for students
Design a pacing guide, units, and lessons to meet outcomes and vision.
Attend once-weekly planning and administrative meetings outside of school hours.
Communicate regularly with parents
Perform some administrative duties involving recruitment, marketing, making policy decisions, meeting with potential parents, and helping to guide the direction of the school
Teach M-Th, 8:15-3:30
Maintenance of school materials and classroom
Supervision and care of all students during school hours
Applicants must be able and willing to spend 4 or more hours a day outside in all weather, value children's unstructured play, and must embrace tenets of constructivist pedagogy while providing clear boundaries for student learning and experiences, particularly in math and literacy.
Qualifications:
The completion of a BA, MEd, or MAT in education, or a certification in a specific teaching method such as Montessori, Forest School, Cedarsong Way, or other comprehensive pedagogical methods.
A minimum of 1 year working professionally with elementary-aged kids in group settings, either in a typical classroom or in an outdoor setting.
We are seeking applicants with any one of the following complementary skills or training: bushcraft, outdoor survival, plant identification, foraging, foreign languages, biology, visual or sculptural art, and music.
Compensation
Salary is DOE, competitive with teaching positions in local schools, but we are not able to offer benefits at this time.
